Climax Jazz Band’s first gig was at Albert’s
Hall, at Toronto’s Brunswick House, in May 1971. As a British-style Trad Band
known for their wide variety of tunes, they play straight from the heart with
a great sense of humor. No wonder they’re one of the most popular bands at
festivals and on jazz cruises. Climax performs Saturdays
from 4 to 7 PM at alleycatz
Restaurant & Lounge. They’ve
been playing Saturday matinées since 1973, beginning at Malloney’s Studio, moving to the Chick’N’Deli (later renamed SEVEN44) in
1983 and to alleycatz in
early 2015. They have performed
marches, blues, ragtime, spirituals, and popular dance tunes for the National
Ballet, Toronto Symphony, major political parties, company functions, and
festivals across Canada and abroad.
